The Kildare Half Marathon is the first half marathon to take place in Kildare. Entries are now open to complete the 2000 anticipated runners. The full marathon will be introduced in May 2011.

The course has been measured by the AAI (Athletics Association of Ireland) and is 13.1 miles in length. It is a fast, flat course, suitable for those starting out in marathon running and equally beneficial to those who are aiming to achieve a personal best.

The course begins at the Curragh Race Course, takes runners through the Curragh of Kildare and on into the stunning Kildare countryside.

Three main charities are supported by the race including Special Olympics Ireland; a sports association for people with intellectual difficulties. The Marie Keating Foundation whose aim is 'to enlighten not frighten' people about breast cancer and latterly also testicular cancer; and The Society of St Vincent de Paul which is a charity offering aid to those experiencing poverty and hardship.

The Geneva Marathon for UNICEF is preparing for a great weekend of running around the beautiful Harbour of Geneva on May 8 and 9, 2010. 4 different races are scheduled to give the opportunity to every member of the family to take part in their own race during this sportive and friendly weekend.

Saturday May 8 will be dedicated to women and youth (6km race for women and 500m to 3km races for children from 6 to 13 years old). Sunday May 9 will be devoted to the traditional Marathon and Half-Marathon.

From 2010, the GENEVA MARATHON supports the UNICEF actions, especially by different fundraising activities. Those funds will be used in particular for purchasing water pumps, used by UNICEF during the emergency aid in countries affected by a disaster.

During the 6th and next editions of the GENEVA MARATHON FOR UNICEF, the Organising Committee has decided to transfer 5% of the registration fees, plus the whole amount of the registration fees for the Kids Runs, to UNICEF.
