Copenhagen - harbour atmosphere and salty sea breezes are what runners can expect at the biggest marathon in Denmark. The capital city marathon starts and finishes at the Islands Brygge with a new route this year taking the best features from previous courses.

Runners pass the world famous Carlsberg brewery (but there is no mark for a hydration station on the official race map at this point) and the "Little Mermaid" seated on her harbour rock. The route itself is spectator friendly, because runners pass the same places several times on their running tour of this historical city. At the water reservoir a big group of dancers and musicians will entertain runners and spectators.

Children also have their sporting challenge in Copenhagen. On Saturday 22nd May young runners from 5 to 15 years can participate in the Politiken Mini Marathon at Faelledpark. Marathon-Photos will photograph the race in front of beautiful scenery to give runners the race memories they'll be looking for. From Thursday to Saturday, runners and those interested in the sport can search for professional equipment at the Marathon expo.

Copenhagen is not only worth a visit these days because of the marathon. There is always a reason to come to Copenhagen as a tourist for sightseeing.
