A brand new running event, brought to you by the organisers of the Bupa Great North Run, will take place this June amidst the beautiful backdrop of the Lake District.
The Karrimor Great Trail Challenge is set for Sunday 17 June 2012, featuring 10km, half-marathon and marathon events, all set along the footpaths, bridle paths and trails of the Lake District.
The course starts and finishes in Keswick and heads out onto the Keswick Railway Footpath, crosses the River Greta at Brundholme, making its way up and around Latrigg Fell, whilst taking in fantastic Lakeland views of Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite from below Skiddaw.
The event is a fun and safe challenge for experienced runners, walkers, or those wanting to move away from road running and into the glorious British countryside.
Thousands of people will be taking part across the three events, so you can expect the amazing atmosphere and excellent organisation that a Great event brings.
Karrimor, specialists in outdoor footwear, rucksacks and clothing are to sponsor the event. Pete Gostling, Marketing Manager for Karrimor commented, “The Great Trail Challenge seeks to entice the more adventurous of runners to take to the beautiful Cumbrian hills to embrace a new challenge. It’s great to be involved with such an interesting event right at the start and we look forward to working with the team at Nova.”
The entry fee starts from £25 and will include a medal, Karrimor Great Trail Challenge t-shirt, finisher’s pack and chip timing, so that you can record an accurate running time after the event.
