Edinburgh Marathon

The ever-popular Albert Bartlett Edinburgh Marathon has doubled in size in the last three years, making it the second largest marathon in the UK.

The course is considered fast so is ideal for those runners hoping to achieve a personal best and was recently rated the fastest marathon in the UK by Runner's World Magazine.

The marathon takes in some of the city's famous landmarks such as Arthur's Seat and the Palace of Holyrood House. As well as city landmarks, the race takes in some of the stunning white beaches of East Lothian as well as many picturesque villages. This gives friends, relatives and supporters of the marathon the perfect excuse to do some sightseeing and shopping as well as watching the marathon.

To support the main marathon event, there is the "Hairy Haggis" team relay giving those with slightly less stamina a chance to experience marathon fever.
As well as a great medal and race recovery pack, all finishers will receive an ASICS technical t-shirt, which has been specially designed for the 2009 marathon.

Places are still open for charities and to find more details and a list of participating charities, visit:
