Semi-Marathon International de Nice

Lovely temperate spring weather should see the Semi-Marathon International de Nice on its way. With between 5,000 and 8,000 participants, it is the second largest running event in France.

The course runs beside the sea for 16km making it a very inspiring and scenic experience. The race starts at the entrance to the Jardins Albert 1ers and crosses over the sea at one point on the Promenade des Anglaises.

The main race of 21.1km is supported by a 10km race, a 2km kids race and the well-known 3km Tout Nice race run in support of the fight against breast cancer.

Copenhagen Marathon

Copenhagen is the largest city in Scandinavia, the capital of Denmark and home to the Copenhagen Marathon. It is also home to the world's largest monarchy and the scene of frequent royal events.

The marathon course was improved in 2007 and again in 2008 and is now faster to run, particularly because it is completely traffic free. The course consists of three laps, 16km, 10km and another 16km. The third and first laps are practically identical. This is ideal for spectators who can find a comfortable cafe and watch the runners come around more than once.

The route starts and finishes near the Royal Library, The Black Diamond (Den Sorte Diamant) and takes runners through Copenhagen's medieval town with a large section of the course running alongside the waterfront.

The temperature in May is normally around 16 -19 degrees centigrade, making it a comfortable run for all participants.
