The 19th Valencia Half Marathon will take place on the 22 November 2009 and is open to 5,000 runners.
The AIMS approved circuit will take in the sights of Valencia as runners take to the streets, including sighting the fascinating Santiago Calatrava designed buildings with their unique architectural style.
Valencia is a culturally rich city and promises to offer both half marathon runners, and their families and friends, an interesting and pleasant trip.
The Portugal Half Marathon will now take place on 4 October 2009, NOT on 27 September as previously advertised. This is due to a request by the National Electoral Commission not to hold any events on the day of elections.
Billed as the 'small sister' of the Lisbon Marathon, the Portugal Half Marathon also takes place in Lisbon.
The Half Marathon starts at the Vasco da Gama Bridge and finishes at the Exhibition site, Expo 1998 in the Parque das Nacoes.
The Vasco da Gama Bridge spans the Tagus River and is the longest bridge in Europe, being 17.2km (10.7 miles) long. The bridge was built in 1998 in time for the Expo and was named after the famous explorer Vasco da Gama in honour of the 500th anniversary of his discovery of the sea route from Europe to India. The bridge is 30m (98ft) wide and comfortably accommodates the 6,000 participants expected on the day of the Portugal Half Marathon.
