Since it's first edition, in 1998, the SSQ Québec City Marathon has established a reputation as an organisation who takes care of all the details, resulting in great satisfaction of it's participants. In 2007, Runner's World magazine placed the SSQ Québec City Marathon as one of the 10 must-do marathons, while ESPN named the event 'Canada's premier race' the year before. Held in Quebec City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is now the biggest international sports event in Greater Québec City and one of the most popular in Canada.
With more than 75% of the course running along the shores of the St. Lawrence River, this marathon takes participants on a scenic route like no other! Starting on the south shore, runners cross the historic Québec Bridge (world's longest 'cantilever' bridge) and finish their journey in the heart of Old Québec City.
Walking or running the Marathon represents a physical and mental challenge that over 36,000 people have taken up since it was first held in 1998. These runners have come from more than 330 Québec municipalities, every Canadian province and more than 70 countries.
With a weekend program including the full marathon, the half marathon, the 10K, the 5K and the McDonald's Kids Run, there's definitely something for everyone!
