Reading Half Marathon

B.T. Halv marathon is traditionally the biggest Danish race every spring and on 26 April 2009, it took place for the 30th time on the fast, changing and beautiful course in the so-called "green belt" north of Copenhagen, from Lyngby to Nærum.

Two months before the race, the hosting club, Søllerød-Nærum IK, had to close entries as they had passed the limit of 7000 participants.

Since the start in 1980 more than 90,000 runners have completed this classic, often called the best and most fun road run in Denmark.

"The goal has always been to give runners and spectators a total experience - to make B.T. Halv marathon more than just a race. We want to make an event. A day to remember", says Klaus Kristiansen, chairman of the running committee.

Therefore the race is rounded off by an after-race party at the Rundforbihallen (stadium) in the finishing area where runners, family and friends gather together and enjoy food and entertainment.

As well as the half marathon, there has also been a quarter marathon the last three years.

"We take great pride in organizing the race at a highly professional level and are proud that Dansk Atletik Forbund (The Danish Athletics Union) has given us the Official Danish Halv Marathon Championship eight years in a row" says Klaus Kristiansen.

The 31st B.T. Halv marathon takes place on Sunday 25 April 2010.

Records? In Köln? At the marathon? For sure! There are always special records at the Köln Marathon again and again. No other marathon better combines peak sporting performances, party atmosphere, and spectators' passion for a whole region than Köln!

No other marathon can better claim to be the most cheerful and most colourful 42.195km experience run than Köln! And no other marathon better manages the tightrope walk between a highly physical event and the often-quoted local cheerfulness that supplies all participants with courage, motivation, and marathon enthusiasm.

You may get impressive songs and an attractive supporting programme in other cities. However, those who run, roll, or skate in Köln know that Köln-style music, culture, and happy souls will electrify at the start and will not finish till the end when everybody, intoxicated by the party feelings, will cross the finish line totally exhausted but overjoyed.

The Cologne marathon course is flat and fast. One might also call it a sightseeing tour along the most famous buildings of the City of Cologne. The event includes a marathon, half marathon, inline marathon, ultradisciplines and relay teams.
