The TriStar200 Andalucia took place on 12th of September in the typical hot conditions of Southern Spain.

It was the first event in a brand new triathlon series with completely new formats and was enjoyed by the 250 athletes who participated. They began the race with a 169km bike ride from Cadiz, through the hilly region to a 1km swim across the Gualdaquivir river. Then they faced a challenging 30km run along the beach of the Donana national park to finish in Matalascanas, which is a popular holiday place for Spanish citizens. The total distance: 200km.

Paul Amey from England won in a time of 6.09.40 hours, followed by the two Spanish athletes, Marcel Zamora and Alejandro Santamaria.

"It was a fantastic race and more fun than an Ironman" the winner said afterwards. "To feel the loneliness in Donana was a real challenge and to run on sand was a new experience for me. I'll definitely participate in other races with the TriStar label in future" he said.

Martina Dogana from Italy won the woman's race in 6.55.48 hours, followed by Martiina Boman from Finland and Spain's Maria Bravo Züniga.

The next TriStar200 Andalucia will be on 18th September 2010.
