The Angkor Wat half marathon starts very early in the morning of 6 December 2009 and the course will take participants through the Angkor Thom Temple Complex, home to many temples built in the 12th Century. Very little is known about the temples but UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation) has designated the area a world heritage site. As well as ancient temples, runners will be able to take in elephants, monkeys, villages and rice fields during their journey along the half marathon route.

The half marathon will start and finish at the gate at Angkor Wat Temple, Siem Riep. It is a 21km race and for those not local to Cambodia, promises to be a historical and cultural feast.

The half marathon is supported by other races including wheelchair races and a 3km family fun run.

On 5 December, the Village Focus Angkor Wat Bike Race and Rally will take place with three races to choose from. The 80k, 40k and 30k cyclo (guided fun ride). The race and rally has increased in popularity since its birth in 2006 and this year they look set to attract 230 bikers to the event.
