The SSQ Quebec City Marathon is the biggest international sports event in Greater Quebec City and one of the most popular in Canada.
With more than 75 percent of the course running along the shores of the St. Lawrence River, this marathon takes participants on a scenic route like no other! Starting on the south shore, runners cross the historic Quebec Bridge and finish in the heart of Old Québec.
Four events are lined up for runners and walkers:- marathon, half marathon, 10k race and 5k kids’ run for 7-14-year-olds. There is also the Health 5k fundraising walk.
Whether walking or running, the Marathon represents a physical and mental challenge that more than 48,000 people have taken up since it was first held in 1998.
These runners have come from more than 330 Québec municipalities, every Canadian province and more than 70 countries.
The SSQ Quebec City Marathon is sanctioned by the Association of International Marathons and Road Races (AIMS) and also by the Québec Athletics Federation.
Marathon finish times are accepted as qualifying times for the Boston Marathon.
