Hibernating runners can start training; two popular Hamilton events are scheduled for the coming months.

Hamilton Half Marathon celebrates its 10th anniversary on 6th October with a rural and urban loop in the rolling countryside of the city’s north east.  Runners preferring a shorter distance can choose a 10km or 5km loop course.  There is also the traditional Kids Marathon in which youngsters accumulate a total Marathon distance in the two months before the event and run the final 2.195km on race day. All events start and finish at Flagstaff Park.

The picturesque Waikato River is the focus of the 69th Hamilton Round the Bridges run on 17th November.  The 12km feature event crosses two bridges and passes three others while runners make the most of the city’s riverbank paths on the west and east sides.

This run also offers a shorter 6km distance and 2km races for school children.  Teams are encouraged to enter the event in a bid to get work colleagues, clubs and friends out running for health and fitness.

On October 13th this year the vibrant city of Munich will have had a full week to recover from Oktoberfest and all eyes will turn to the 2013 Munich Marathon in the city of sport.

Combining a top class sporting event with a tourist adventure, the Munich Marathon delivers in atmosphere, organisation and culture.

However it is the marathon course which is the real star of the show. The route encompasses famous landmarks such as the Marienplatz, the Odeonsplatz, the Siegestor and many more.

It is only fitting that such a great run ends with one of the most spectacular finishes in sports – a smoke machine, electric laser light entrance into the brilliant green Olympic Stadium to conclude what is a very memorable event.

Returning for its 28th running, Munich has become an event immensely popular with local and international runners as well as with city residents who revel in the buoyant atmosphere the event brings to the city.

Marathon, half marathon, 10km and marathon relay categories are offered to competitors, so participants of all ability are able to get involved in this exciting event.

There are many reasons to head to Munich in early October, so get up, get into it and get involved in the 2013 Munich Marathon!
