Some 220,000 spectators were treated to perfect weather and highly competitive racing in the 2013 edition of the Challenge Roth triathlon.

Race debutants Dirk Bockel and Caroline Steffen took out the male and female categories in an event which is quickly becoming regarded as one of the world’s very best.

A truly international event, Luxembourg’s Bockel and Switzerland’s Steffen repelled several determined competitors over the 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and marathon distance 42.195km run to win fiercely competitive races.

Challenge Roth is surrounded by an atmosphere which is so positive, so exciting, so inspiring it is absolutely no wonder the event is always a raging success. The crowd goes wild when the leaders enter the finishing stadium, as they do at most events around the world.

What separates Challenge Roth from most other events is that the crowd is still going wild when the very last participants enter the stadium. As a matter of fact the final athlete carries two burning torches into the stadium, at which time thousands of sparklers are lit amongst the crowd and fireworks light up the night sky.

Challenge Roth is spine tingling, Challenge Roth is inspiring. Once again in 2013, Challenge Roth IS triathlon.
