BRITAIN’S MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY RUN

On a crisp autumn morning, Sunday 7 October, Hyde Park was filled with 13,500 runners of all ages taking part in the fifth annual Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon, the Pulse3K race for young people and the newest challenge:; the 50km Royal Parks Foundation Ultra, partnered with Scope.

BEAUTIFUL CITY RUN

The Half Marathon races for 13.1 miles through the spectacular autumn scenery of Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens. It also takes in some of the UK’s most recognisable landmarks including Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the Royal Albert Hall and the Houses of Parliament, making it Britain’s most beautiful city run.

FOOD & FITNESS FESTIVAL

From early on Sunday morning thousands of runners and spectators gathered at the Partridges Duke of York Square Food & Fitness Festival. Hyde Park’s Old Football Pitches were transformed, as everyone from tots to great-grandparents enjoyed live music, ate fantastic food, celebrated the achievements of the runners and tried their hand at activities from canoeing to climbing, swingball to parkour plus golf, badminton and tennis.

A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH
The Royal Parks Foundation, with its partners, aims to make every aspect of the Half Marathon, Pulse3K and the new Ultra as sustainable as possible, from sourcing high quality technical runners’ shirts made from bamboo and recycled plastic, to recycling clothing discarded at the start line, to collecting and recycling the 100,000 plastic bottles used by runners and spectators, and refuelling runners with Fairtrade bananas.
