Don’t miss the opportunity to compete in an iconic venue alongside the world’s top Olympic-distance triathlon stars at the second edition of the ITU World Triathlon San Diego on April 18-20, 2013, in Mission Beach.
Contested adjacent to the birthplace of the sport, the ITU World Triathlon San Diego was one of the largest first-year events in the history of the sport with a field of over 2,100 age-groupers in 2012. The debut event received rave reviews from the competitors, and the 2013 race promises to be bigger and better.
The age-group events will be held Saturday, April 20, and will once again feature sprint and Olympic-distance events, as well as an Olympic-distance relay, and an aquabike event has been added for 2013. The ITU World Triathlon San Diego will serve as the 2013 USA Triathlon Club National Championship.
All amateur competitors will race down the same finish chute as an Olympic-caliber field of 130 of the world’s top elite triathletes, who will again compete in San Diego on the second stop of the 2013 ITU World Triathlon Series.
The 2012 ITU World Triathlon San Diego saw Great Britain’s Jonathan Brownlee and Helen Jenkins emerge victorious, while Americans Laura
Bennett, Manuel Huerta and Hunter Kemper qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Triathlon Team with emotional top-nine finishes.
Race week will kick off with packet pick-up and the expo Thursday, April 18, followed by one of the elite races Friday, April 19.
The age-groupers will take over the morning of Saturday, April 20, followed by the second elite race.
