Despite the cold Canberra wind, more than 900 people came out to Lake Burley Griffin on Saturday, 5th November to run, jog and walk for Lifeline Canberra.
The annual Icon Water Run for your Lifeline Fun Run & Half Marathon raises vital funds and awareness for Lifeline Canberra’s life-saving 13 11 14 crisis support and suicide prevention service.
Australian Olympic sprinter, Lifeline Canberra ambassador and local hero, Melissa Breen, also took part in the event. As a 100m national champion, the 5km fun run was Mel’s first attempt at tackling a long distance event, giving locals the chance to beat an Olympic athlete.
Race HQ was buzzing with activities and a special warm up for the family-friendly 5km fun run, led by local Club Lime mascot, Gymmy PT, with help from Prime Possum and Viktor the Viking.
It was such a great morning, Lifeline Canberra has already locked in the 2017 event!
Registrations are now open for next year's Run for your Lifeline, which will be held on Saturday, 4th November around Lake Burley Griffin.
