The 2016 New Forest Marathon saw 5000 runners complete 5 events, enjoying an amazing day in the New Forest National Park. With routes winding through some of the most stunning areas including the famous Rhinefield Ornamental Drive and Arboretum, crossing streams with options of “Wet Feet” or “Dry Feet” and catching glimpses of the resident Ponies/Deer all runners were treated to an unforgettable experience.
Blessed with blue skies and mild temperatures the Marathon event was won by Peter Thompson in a course record time of 2.39.32 and the Half won by Leonard Passingham in a time of 1.16.36.
It’s an experience designed for runners of all ages/abilities with terrain including a mixture of compact gravel tracks and tarmac and routes starting and finishing in one location.
The event that is now in its 34th year is far more than just a marathon and will return on Sunday 10th September 2017 to include a Woodland Walk, Nordic Walk, Junior Races, 5k, 10k, Half and Full Marathons, Technical Trade Area, Food and Drink Traders, Activity Zone, Music Stage and Camping, so has something for all the family to enjoy.
