2011 was a great year for the Porto Marathon. Philemon Baaru, from Kenya broke the course record with 2:09:51; only one second off the previous record held by Lawrence Saina since 2006.
Pauline Chepchumba won the women's race.
1516 runners completed the full Marathon, a record number of participants for the Porto marathon.
The Porto Marathon is one of the most beautiful courses in the world combining seaside and riverside, crossing under 5 bridges and passing through 2 cities; Oporto and V.N.Gaia.
This course is considered by many as one of the most picturesque in Europe! The Porto Marathon programme has 3 different races; the Marathon, 42,195k, a Family Race, 14k, and a Mini Marathon, 6k. Something for everyone.
The date for the 2012 Porto Marathon is set for 28 October with online registrations opening in February.
