AIMS has signed a six-year sponsorship agreement with the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) for Greece to become the patron of the marathon organisation.

AIMS and SEGAS began a closer relationship eight years ago. It led to the opening of a new headquarters for AIMS at the Olympic OACA Stadium in Athens in 2011.

President Paco Borao says the new agreement, for the years 2015-2020, gives SEGAS the right to promote Greece as Patron and secures the physical presence of AIMS in Athens.

“For us there couldn’t be a better solution than keeping our main offices in Athens and I am sure that the successful relationship we started with SEGAS, eight years ago, will be developed and enhanced further,” he said.

Paco also noted that AIMS membership continued to grow, with more than 380 distance events in 102 countries or territories.

“It shows we belong to a running movement which is constantly increasing, carrying along all the important values and messages.”

AIMS latest Distance Running magazine – the first for 2015 – is now available online at
