Australasia’s oldest marathon will have its 52nd running at the end of April.

New Zealand’s Lion Foundation Rotorua Marathon, affectionately known as the "People's Marathon", is once again back to take participants on a tremendously scenic adventure.

One of the unique charms of the event is that Lake Rotorua is almost the exact distance of a full marathon. So with one simple lap of the stunning lake, you’re done!

The course does add a touch of challenge with a handful of hills thrown in, so that you truly feel a sense of achievement at the finish line.

If the full marathon seems a bit much to take on this time, there is also a half marathon, quarter marathon and 5.5km events available. There is also a kids’ race on Friday evening before the marathon.

With an event for everyone and in a city with attractions for all ages, this is the perfect chance to gather your troops and get away for an Autumn break in the place of geysers, hot springs, boiling mud pools and adventure activities for all.
