The shine on the 2016 Statesman Capitol 10,000, the largest 10K in Texas and seventh largest in the country, just got brighter. Leo Manzano, 2012 Olympic silver medalist in the 1,500 metres, will be this year’s race ambassador.

“The Statesman Cap10K is an iconic race and Leo Manzano is an iconic runner,” said Jeff Simecek, Cap10K race director. “We couldn’t ask for a better pairing and representative of Austin’s beloved annual race. We look forward to working with Leo in the 39th annual running of the Cap10K.”

The new race ambassador shares this enthusiasm. “I’m excited and honored to represent a race that means so much to so many,” said Manzano. “I invite runners and walkers to join me in supporting a community race that gives generously to local nonprofit organisations and initiatives.” The 2016 Cap10K will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2016. More than 20,000 runners are expected to participate; whether running competitively, or in tutus and Superman costumes.

This year, the Finish Line Festival will include music, food and drink, including the popular Bloody Mary and Beer Garden, and the family-friendly Cap Kids’ Zone.
