The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival will return for its 11th year on 18th September with both marathon and half marathon events boasting flatter, faster and more scenic courses, following revisions in 2010.


This year, the event has joined forces with champion marathoner Lee Troop to provide an intuitive training program individually tailored and updated to help participants reach the finish line in their best form yet.


Considered one of Australia’s most spectacular marathon and half marathon courses, with its exhilarating traffic free crossing of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and finish at the majestic Sydney Opera House, this flagship event sees over 35,000 people congregate in Sydney on event day.



The faster and flatter course has been well received by the running community, and the revisions also mean significantly less impact on the wider Sydney community, easing traffic congestion within the city and allowing better traffic movement around the city, airport, eastern suburbs and the inner west.


All 2011 Blackmores Sydney marathon and half marathon participants will have the opportunity to train with Australia’s leading marathon runner and Olympic legend, Lee Troop.  Once registered, participants will receive free access to an intuitive online training program, Marathon Guru developed by Lee Troop.


The Marathon Guru training program runs for 16 weeks and adjusts according to how each runner copes with the prescribed training.


If a runner is unable to keep up with the training times prescribed to achieve an initial marathon goal/race time, or the runner exceeds their initial goal, then the program adjusts future training to provide a new predicted result.


The training program also provides information on diet, injury prevention, stretching and motivation.


Lee Troop is passionate about helping everyone to achieve their goal of running a marathon or half marathon.
