Welcome to Dublin

This is the 33rd year of the Dublin Marathon, which is run through the historic Georgian streets of Dublin, Ireland’s capital and largest city, and home to a quarter of the country’s almost four million people, which will take place on Monday 29 October 2012.

Dublin is only an hour by air from most UK and European cities, and a large number of the expected entry of 14,000 participants will be made up of overseas runners, many of whom will be returning to sample Irish hospitality once more.

The course is largely flat and is a single lap, starting at Fitzwilliam Square and finishing in Merrion Square close to the city centre.

The event has a capacity for 2,000 entrants and is free of charge to those participating in the marathon. This provides runners with an opportunity to meet other athletes, exchange t-shirts and enjoy a complementary breakfast to a background of Irish traditional music. Participants also receive a special commemorative t-shirt.
