The 3rd 3D Rotorua multi sport event took place on 2nd June, and competitors revelled in the tough, dirty, beautiful and exciting event they always knew they were getting themselves into.

While kayaking, mountain biking and trail running disciplines can be matched by other events, few can match the remarkable location of the 3D Rotorua.

Beginning on the infinitely scenic and ever tranquil Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake), moving to the exciting mountain bike tracks of the Whakarewarewa Forest and finishing with a run within the magnificent Redwood Forest, 3D Rotorua truly delivers natural beauty from go to whoa.

A total of 10 events were completed on race day, with people and teams of all age and ability participating in multi, dual or single sport events.

Organisers place a strong emphasis on delivering an event which is very friendly to participants as well as spectators, and this really shows through in the affable yet professional organisation of the event.

After all involved left with such a positive impression of the 3D Rotorua, be sure not to miss next year’s instalment of this young event with a growing reputation.

The 2nd Annual Austin 10/20 took place in North Austin, Texas on April 14, 2013. Over 12,000 runners, walkers and spectators came out for the event. The 10 mile race highlighted the Live Music Capital of the World by featuring twenty of Austin’s best bands along the route.

The weather conditions were perfect for participants and Simon Ndirangu who set a 10 mile Texas state record when he crossed the finish line in 47:13. Female Champion, Belianesh Gebre also set a state record with her time of 55:31.

After finishing and re-hydrating, most of the runners gathered on the grass fields right next to the finish for the piece de resistance of the morning: the Headliner Concert featuring Candlebox. After a short set from opening act Lost Element, Candlebox hit the Main Stage. The band from Seattle is in the midst of their 20th anniversary tour and absolutely rocked the house with its distinctive sound.

Participant Deborah Olsen said, “Second year running the race and it freaking rocked. I’m doing it next year and making it a tradition.”

Paula Floeck said something similar Olsen, “I thoroughly enjoyed the entire race experience from the race expo, the awesome route, and the after party! I already have other runners interested in doing the race next year. Great job to all involved!”
