It’s on again – with a new name, new finish location and bigger and better than ever.

After 23 years, the Pub2Pub charity fun run is to become a festival with an additional shorter distance option and a beachfront route that links two surf clubs.

What hasn’t changed is the philosophy that 100 percent of registrations go to charity.

The race began in 1991 when the Bayfield family bought the Newport Arms and thought it would be fun to have a community run from Dee Why Hotel to their own.

This year there are renovations at the Newport Arms, so the Pub2Pub will be 14.5km up the coast from Dee Why Surf Club to Newport Surf Club – beginning with 800m on sand.

By changing the finish venue, organisers hope to double the field and they’ve lined up a great festival atmosphere, with live music, international food festival and a few post-race drinks.

Also new is a 3km event from Mona Vale Surf Club to Newport Surf Club.

Pub2Pub is organised by the Rotary Club of Brookvale and remains well supported by the Newport Arms Bayfield family – as well as a very enthusiastic local community in Sydney’s northern beaches.

Not often do you get the chance to start a race in one country and finish in another.

The Niagara Falls International Marathon lets you do just that!

The unique marathon begins in Buffalo, New York at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery providing the perfect shelter and opportunity to view some paintings while you wait for the start.

The first 6.5km of the flat fast course are along the historic parkways of Buffalo before crossing the Peace Bridge into Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada.

The Canadian side of the route curves up along the Niagara Parkway, a landscaped road which winds along the Niagara River offering awe-inspiring views leading you up to the finish line facing the almighty Niagara Falls themselves.

The pre-race 'shakeout' run on Saturday morning followed by breakfast at Planet Hollywood is the ideal way to start the weekend. Sunday’s full marathon is joined by a half marathon, 10km and 5km events.

With something for everyone, it’s the perfect excuse to take the whole family for a weekend at the majestic Niagara Falls.
