The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM) and the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM), promoted by Procam International are the premier distance running events in the country. Today, SCMM is the “holy grail” for all runners amongst the 300 odd running events followed by the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon.
The thirteen edition of SCMM is set for January 15, 2017, and the registrations will begin on 20th July 2016. Fuelled by a passion for running, the event will be flagged-off from the majestic Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus and will wind its way through the Maximum City passing the Hutatma Chowk, Marine Drive, the iconic Rajiv Gandhi Worli Sea Link and the Siddhivinayak temple before returning back at the Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus.
The running fraternity will be competing across two different race categories - the Full Marathon (42.195 km) and Half Marathon (21.097 km) for prize money in excess of USD 377,000. The participative races of Dream Run (6km), Senior Citizens’ Run (4.3 km), and Champions with Disability (1.75 km) attracts colour and showcases the spirit of the city.
The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon touted as one of the world’s fastest half marathons is scheduled on November 20, 2016, in the Indian capital territory of New Delhi. Charting a course from the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, it will cross the India Gate, Zakir Hussain Marg and other locations on Lodi Road, rewarding the winners with a total of USD 270,000.
The registrations for the following categories Half Marathon (21.097 km), Great Delhi Run (6 km), Sr. Citizens’ Run (4 km), and Champions with Disability (4 km) will begin on 24th August 2016.
The longevity and ever-increasing popularity of SCMM and ADHM are a testimony to the support that both these events achieve from national and international runners and enthusiasts, making it a movement unto itself.
