Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin, Texas hosts one of the United States’ largest 10 mile running events, the Austin 10/20! Ten thousand runners will cover the flat, fast course on April 14, 2013 and hear more music per mile than any other race in the country.
After passing by 20 stages of Austin’s best bands performing live, participants will be greeted at the finish line with a stunning commemorative medal that is sure to be a memorable keepsake. Once they've caught their breath and grabbed a beer, everyone will be rockin’ out to a huge headliner concert at the post race party.
Austin in April is perfect for running and sightseeing with an average high of 26°C (79°F) and average low of 15°C (59°F). Situated along the Colorado River and the edge of Texas Hill Country, the scenic town is a great place for the outdoor enthusiast. In the spring and summer, the three lakes within Austin are packed with kayaks, paddle boards, boats and swimmers. In the heart of downtown you’ll find Lady Bird Lake and the famous Town Lake Trail. Miles of shaded paths and breath taking views of the lake make the trail a popular spot. It’s also one of the reasons why Forbes Magazine named Austin as one of the top 10 cities for runners in 2012
Austin is a college town and the State Capitol of Texas. The capitol building has the second largest dome in the country, second only to the United States Congress building in Washington D.C.
Two of the largest music festivals in the country are held in Austin every Spring and Fall. The only Formula 1 Grand Prix race in the United States is held in Austin and debuted in November 2012.
