Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend has been named best race of 2016.
Each year Canadian Running magazine recognises the best athletes and moments from the world of running with their Golden Shoe Awards.
Golden shoes are awarded based on feedback from magazine contributors, running experts and a national reader survey. They cite the big crowds, the wicked fast Ottawa 10K and the immersive vibe of the weekend as some of the things that make Ottawa great.
The Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon is Canada’s largest and fastest marathon and one of Canada’s largest Boston Qualifiers:
As one of two IAAF Gold Label marathon events in Canada, the race attracts Canada’s largest marathon field (7,000 participants) as well as a world-class contingent of professional athletes every year.
Featuring the beautiful scenery of Canada’s capital, the top-notch organisation of an IAAF event, the atmosphere of hundreds of thousands of spectators, and a fast course perfect both for personal bests and first-timers, this is a world-class marathon that must be experienced.
The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend is one of only two running events in the world to host two IAAF Gold Label races – the Ottawa 10K and the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon
“2017 promises to be a great year for our country, our city, and our runners,” said John Halvorsen, President of Run Ottawa and Race Director of the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend.
“We have a number of exciting activities in the works to mark Canada’s 150th at our event.”
