Start your way in the Old Town Square leaving behind the iconic Astronomical Clock, cross the oldest Gothic bridge in the world, admire the view of the 2nd largest Castle in Europe, and celebrate your finish with the finest Czech beer. Whether it’s your first 1st or your 19th, the Volkswagen Prague Marathon remains the race to come back to.

Prague Marathon is the most international race in the whole RunCzech Running League series with 52% foreign runners hailing from 91 countries. It has been voted one of the most beautiful courses in the world.

Year after year the race is sold out well in advance, welcoming more than 9,000 participants across the start line in the Czech capital in May.

What makes the Prague Marathon a popular race? One of the factors is the IAAF Road Race Gold label which assures runners that the race organization, safety and service are of the highest quality. And there is the always impressive Elite start list followed by a number of VIP guests such as the football star Pavel Nedvěd.

The RunCzech Running League consisting of the Volkswagen Prague Marathon, the Hervis Prague Half Marathon, and the Prague Grand Prix plus four half marathons held in different cities around the Czech Republic, has gained widespread recognition from local and international runners, partners, sports governing bodies, and the cities of the Czech Republic.

A total of five IAAF Road Race labels makes RunCzech one of only two race organizers in the world to have received such commendations.

Hot news this year is that a new headquarters will be opened in May to serve as an international centre of road running. The 2000 m² area will include the PIM (Prague International Marathon and RunCzech) offices, the Running Club, water bar, conference rooms, and an adidas running base. In addition, the running centre will be the home of the foundation of Patrick Makau, the Marathon World Record Holder. This will be the only such foundation in Europe
