On May 19th, 2013, the Capitol Hill Classic 10K will return to the streets of historic Capitol Hill in Washington, DC for its 34th annual running. The Classic anticipates over 2,000 runners in the 10K race, which will then be followed by a 3K and a kids' fun run. The 10K course is fast and flat with ChronoTrack timing, and it takes runners past Union Station, the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, Folger Shakespeare Library, and RFK Stadium. Runners will also get to run around Lincoln Park, the crown jewel of Capitol Hill's national parks, and enjoy a finish line festival in Stanton Park. The Classic is the only race run exclusively on the roads of Capitol Hill! Photography along the course will give participants the ability to remember their runs in front of some of Washington, DC's most iconic buildings.

In May, Washington, DC's average temperature of 65 degrees Farenheit is perfect for runners -- and DC's sightseeing can't be beaten. From the Smithsonian museums to the memorials and federal buildings, DC offers something for every traveler, and provides a subway system to get you from place to place in comfort. Simply getting in a pre-race shakeout run on the National Mall is an experience worth having!

All proceeds from the races benefit the Capitol Hill Cluster School, a unique DC public school with over 1,000 children. Students at the Cluster School are given fitness training and incentives to participate in the Classic, and families from the Cluster School help give the race a true neighborhood feel.
