The Standard Chartered KL Marathon is one of the hottest tickets on the marathon schedule this year! The 33,000 available entries were sold out quicker than a Rolling Stones concert, with eager runners itching to be a part of what is one of Asia’s fastest growing marathon events.

In just its fifth year, the event has grown a staggering 150% since beginning with 13,500 participants in 2009.

So what is it that keeps past participants returning and thousands of new entrants coming in each year? Event organisers and major sponsors Standard Chartered are committed to making the KL Marathon not just another running event, but a truly special occasion which embodies the country’s energy and serves as a nation-building engagement.

The marathon course itself is a big part of what makes the event special.

Beginning and ending in the historic Dataran Merdeka, the route takes in some of Kuala Lumpur’s famous and recognisable landmarks. From historical and cultural sites such as Masjid Negara (National Mosque of Malaysia) and the revered Thean Hou Temple to architectural wonders of the world such as the KL Tower and the immense Petronas Twin Towers.

Entries have closed for 2013, but for an event growing big in size and reputation, get in quick for next year’s Standard Chartered KL Marathon!

There’s a kind of magic running at night. You see lights in the dark. You hear your footsteps and your heartbeat. You smell the scent of the fresh night breeze. You touch the coolness of the air. You taste the impending satisfaction of completing your run.

On 31st May the Sundown Marathon gives participants the opportunity to experience the unique sensation of night time running through the streets of Singapore.

Beginning at 11.30pm right outside the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix pit building and finishing in front of the colourfully lit Singapore Flyer,

the course takes in much of Singapore’s charming night time sights and sounds. The aim is to finish before sunrise.

Undoubtedly one of the course highlights is the view of the unreservedly spectacular Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Casino, a building truly like no other. Other architectural delights such as The Concourse and Merlion Park are also encompassed within the marathon course.

There are10km, Team 10km and Half Marathon events available in addition to the full Marathon distance, so participants need not be die hard marathoners to be involved in this special event.
