Ostseeman Glücksburg is the only long distance triathlon where participants have to swim in the sea. This race in the far north of Germany is the country’s third largest triathlon after Challenge Roth and Ironman Frankfurt.

Josef Spindler who won the last three editions of the Ostseeman wasn´t able to make it a fourth victory in a row this year as Christian Nitschke from Rostock won in his first race as a professional. There was also a surprise winner in the women´s race when Doerte Siebke from Hamburg finished first.

Spectators found it exciting to watch when Christian Nitschke, who was one of the fastest swimmers over the 3.8km course, went out on the bike course where wind was the toughest barrier for athletes.

With six and nine minutes delay behind Nitschke, last year second-placed Wittmershaus and Spindler started their marathon race on the five lap course.

The run, which is Spindler’s favourite discipline, didn´t help him to take the race lead that day.  Nitschke ran the second fastest marathon in 2.53.32 hours and won the race with a new personal best and new race record of 8.27.10 hours.

Phoebe Thomas isn't necessarily known for her prowess in pounding the countryside, or her ability to motivate and inspire runners.  She is perhaps best known for her role in 'Holby City' as Nurse Maria Kendall  which she played from November 2006 to May this year, although she has also played the role of Lady Godiva and starred in 'Night and Day', 'Family Affairs' and 'Teachers'.

Phoebe hasn't always been a runner, she developed her passion 6 years ago when she entered her first 5k race in the Cancer Research UK, Race for Life Series. As she progressed to running 10k races, she felt she was stalling and needed some extra help so she went to a running camp where she met her partner Nick Anderson, who apparently, didn't recognise her as an actress and had to be told by someone else that she was Nurse Kendall from Holby City.

It is safe to say Nick’s life is running and coaching. With over 25 years running experience, he is a graduate in Science & management of health & fitness, a UKA level 4 endurance coach, a qualified nutritionist & sports therapy practitioner and enjoys coaching all levels of runner.

Nick and Phoebe hit it off straight-away and have subsequently set up a business designed to offer coaching and inspiration to all running levels; from beginners to elites.  They will put together bespoke packages for all degrees of running ability, along with one to one sessions and group sessions when the time is right.  They will also review your performance in line with your goals and help you to work towards and satisfactorily achieve them.
