It sounds simple, but Challenge Roth is “The best old race”,  there is no race where the crowd is more enthusiastic; no place with more “spirit of triathlon”.

The world’s largest long-distance triathlon this year hosted possibly the best field of professional athletes.  In total 2800 individuals and 550 relay teams from over 40 countries fought to win the Challenge Roth crown.

Supported by enthusiastic spectators, Danish triathlete Rasmus Henning, racing in Roth for the first time, won in the fourth best time ever: 7.52.36 hours.  Sebastian Kienle, racing his first ever long-distance triathlon, also finished under 8 hours, coming second in 7.59.06.

Before the race, organiser Felix Walchshöfer said: “almost all top athletes are able to win the race. This year everything is possible”.

In the women’s race triathlon world champion and last year’s Ironman Hawaii winner, Chrissie Wellington (England), made the unbelievable come true.  She won in a new world record time: 8.19.13.  Rebekah Keat finished second (8.52.10) and the new face in triathlon, Tereza Marcel from Czech Republic finished third in 9.09.20.

Besides the exceptional atmosphere, the triathlon park with its stadium is very spectator friendly.  Roth is truly the “Mecca of Triathlon” and next year Challenge Roth will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
